  • I love this church...the priests, the parishioners. ..all the Bible Studies, Adult classes/workshops/retreats...it enriches my soul.

  • I've never been to the parish, but the two one star comments posted here make me sad. I'm sorry you feel as if you were treated badly. I'm sure the nun who was sponsoring the confirmation candidate signed a document that all other sponsors had to sign as well. The church is making sure those who stand up to support younger members of the church will mentor the youth towards God. I'm sure she was not singled out.

I'm sorry to hear you were saddened by your father funeral. I hope I never have to feel regret towards the church in that circumstance. However, to insinuate that Jesus, in being the manifestation of love, and preaching somehow negates the doctrine of purgatory is just theologically and biblically wrong. Jesus speaks of purgatory in his ministry. I understand it might not be the wisest point of a funeral homily, but not knowing the context in which it was referenced, I can't say much more on the issue. But I hope God's love and grace find you in abundance.

  • +JMJ Beautiful, beautiful Roman Catholic Church built in recent times. Was happy to be able to stop in for a visit during travels with a friend. I had heard of Holy Trinity because of knowing the priest responsible for the establishment of this parish. The Church building is visually appealing to the eye and all the faith-related images made me mindful of Heavenly expectations: being in the present of our Triune God, Jesus's friends (Saints) and hosts/myriads of Angels. Very comforting!

  • Joanne. There is no guarantee that your father is in Heaven. The Church is a reminder that all is not love and roses--that Jesus is both love and redeemer, a reminder that we all commit mortal sin, and that if we do not repent, we risk the chance of going to Hell. Why not take the opportunity at a funeral to remind us of that? As with your father, the Lord came like a thief in the night and "took him away". Where He took him is based on the life that he led. You know this (or at least you should). The Protestant "God is love" assertion is overused. Maybe you think you will get to Heaven based on caring for mother earth, some good deeds, or just because you think you are entitled to it. It does not work that way. God does not work like man does. There are no committees at the pearly gates of St. Peter. No support group. It is just you and Him. Personally, I am terrified at spending eternity in Hell, or even in Purgatory for that matter. You should be too.

  • I am a convert to the Catholic Faith. The Saints are my brothers and sisters in Heaven and Mother Mary is my Heavenly Mother, praying for me.
